Corresponding Signals Have Long Been Sent to the Capital of Armenia, Lavrov
Western countries do not wish to implement the agreements regarding peaceful resolution between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which were concluded through Russian mediation. The West is obstructing the conflict resolution process. This was stated by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The information is provided by RIA Novosti.
“We have seen how the EU, France, Germany, and the US, as soon as they understood that the Russian-Armenian-Azerbaijani process was yielding results in terms of unblocking routes, delimiting the border, and preparing a peace treaty, immediately began to intrude into the process uninvited, and they played the role of disruptors,” the minister noted at a press conference.
Lavrov added that the West does not want to allow the agreements that “have been reached through Russian mediation between Yerevan and Baku” to be fulfilled. “It is regrettable that the interests of Western selfish ambitions are preventing the realization of radical interests for both Armenia and Azerbaijan,” concluded the Russian Foreign Minister.
Sergey Lavrov also mentioned that Baku is ready to sign a treaty with Yerevan on Russian territory. “The fact that Western partners want the signing of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace treaty to take place only in their territory is a fact. The fact that Azerbaijan is ready to sign it on Russian territory, where, in fact, efforts have begun to put an end to the conflict and build a system of cooperation for resolving all issues, is also a fact. To what extent Yerevan is ready for this, I do not know, although the corresponding signals have long been sent to the capital of Armenia,” Lavrov stated.
