Video: 'Throughout the entire existence of independence, we have blurred Armenia's sovereignty' – Nikol Pashinyan
“Throughout the entire existence of independence, we have failed to notice one thing: we have blurred Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, which is a fundamental problem,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a question-and-answer session between the National Assembly and the Government.
According to the Prime Minister, the issue must be viewed from the correct perspective, meaning that all current actions continue to be directed towards establishing Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“In the context of security challenges, our strategic understanding is that all our positions and formulations must be based on legitimacy,” said the head of the government.
Regarding Aliyev’s statements that if Armenia does not provide a route through the Meghri section, they will use the route through Iran to connect to Nakhchivan, he responded that under the same conditions that Iran provides Azerbaijan access to Nakhchivan, Armenia is also ready to grant that passage from Azerbaijan’s main territory to Nakhchivan.
Opposition MP Arthur Khachatryan from the “Armenia” faction expressed disagreement with Pashinyan, noting that Azerbaijan's relations with Iran differ from those with Armenia.
Khachatryan asked whether Azerbaijan could start a war, stating that a new security situation has emerged, and what counteraction Armenia is proposing in this situation.
Pashinyan responded to the question, saying, “In this situation, as before, our position must be legitimacy.”
