Earthquake in Southeastern Turkey

A 3.9 magnitude earthquake has been recorded in the Kahramanmaraş province of southeastern Turkey, according to the country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

According to the agency’s statement on social media, the tremors occurred in the Elbistan region at 18:58 local time (19:59 Yerevan time). The earthquake's epicenter was located at a depth of 6.99 kilometers.

On February 6, two powerful earthquakes of 7.7 and 7.6 magnitudes struck Kahramanmaraş province within nine hours of each other. The subsequent aftershocks were felt in 11 provinces across the country and in neighboring countries, including Syria. As per the latest reports, more than 55,000 people have died in Turkey due to these earthquakes.
