Record Low Temperature of the 21st Century Set in Finland

A record low temperature of minus 44.3 degrees Celsius has been set in Finland this century. The Finnish Meteorological Institute reported this today. According to the information provided by RIA Novosti, "During the night, Finland recorded the lowest temperature of the 21st century when the temperature dropped to minus 44.3 degrees Celsius at Enontekiö Airport," the statement said.

Earlier on Thursday, approximately 20,000 consumers were left without electricity due to freezing temperatures in the southern and southwestern regions of the country. Electricity supply was restored on Thursday evening. Additionally, the Finnish state railway company has canceled some long-distance trains until the end of the week due to severe frost, affecting around 10,000 passengers, the carrier reported.

In Finland, suburban and long-distance trains have been delayed for the fourth consecutive day due to the freezing temperatures, with delays ranging from 30 minutes to three hours. Some routes have been canceled. Furthermore, the ongoing cold has complicated public transport operations.
