Nearly Half of Police Officers Failed the 'IQ Test' in Assessment

About 40% of the employees of the Armenian police have failed the assessment phase of the general division testing. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in response to a query from Sputnik Armenia.

As of the end of December 2023, a total of 1,123 police officers participated in the assessment, of which only 190 passed all phases. Additionally, the assessment process for three other employees was still underway.

The assessment includes four phases:

  • General division testing conducted electronically (referred to as the 'IQ test' by the police),
  • A verification process consisting of two segments: physical training and firearms readiness checks,
  • Professional division testing conducted electronically,
  • An interview for personnel occupying senior and higher-level positions.

The MIA reported that 454 participants could not pass the general division testing phase, 192 failed the physical training phase, 279 did not succeed in the firearms readiness phase, and 8 employees failed the professional division testing phase.

It is noteworthy that the general division testing consists of two sub-sections: general development and professional skills.
