And we, without hesitation, must say this and we are saying it: there must be state-centered content. Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports on January 4 to discuss the department's activities for 2023.

Education Minister Zhanna Andreasian and the deputy ministers presented their work in coordination areas, priorities, and strategic goals, also addressing the planned reforms.

It was noted that the implementation of new state standards for general education has been carried out in grades 2, 5, and 7 of all schools in the republic. The creation and printing of textbooks has been carried out with a new approach, which has significantly improved the quality of textbooks while expanding participation opportunities.

The new textbook creation system has impacted costs; on average, the price of a textbook in elementary school decreased from 1,044 drams to 742 drams, and in secondary school from 1,722 drams to 1,249 drams.

Prime Minister Pashinyan stressed that educational policy is the most important policy developed and implemented by the government. “We must be confident that our textbooks convey those messages. The messages that are conveyed must be state-centered; they must be about the state, its history, and literature must also reflect this. There is a very large amplitude there, and we must be very careful. And we, without hesitation, must say this and we are saying it: there must be state-centered content. The school is a state institution, and everything must correspond to that, absolutely everything,” said the Prime Minister.
