Porsche Taycan Exceeds Tesla's Record
The 1000-horsepower prototype of the Porsche Taycan has outperformed the Tesla Model S Plaid at the Nürburgring. The electric vehicle completed the track in 7:07.55, just two seconds slower than the Rimac Nevera hypercar.
The Taycan was equipped with a safety frame and racing seats, and reportedly powered by a new tri-motor electric setup utilizing silicon carbide inverters. According to unofficial sources, the system's combined power will be around 1000 horsepower, with the primary competitors being the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Lucid Air Sapphire.
Now, the title of the fastest electric vehicle from Zuffenhausen belongs to a certain pre-production Porsche Taycan, which finished the Nürburgring lap in 7:07.55. The sedan was 26 seconds faster than the commercial Taycan Turbo S and 17.681 seconds quicker than the Tesla Model S Plaid.
However, Porsche has yet to reveal further details about the vehicle but has promised to release the full racing footage by mid-March.
