Iranian President Calls Leaders of Kerman Terror Attack Enemies of the Nation
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has stated that the organizers of the terrorist attack that took place at Qasem Soleimani's grave in Kerman will be punished, and their actions will not hinder Islamic ideals. He labeled those involved in the explosions as enemies of the nation.
“The authors and leaders of this cowardly act will undoubtedly be exposed soon by the powerful security and law enforcement forces and will be punished for their despicable actions. The enemies of the nation should know that such actions can never impede the iron will of the Iranian people to defend Islamic ideals,” Raisi declared.
He also added that the actions of Iranian authorities in combating terrorism will be more resolute than before, urging Kerman city officials to assist the victims and restore order as quickly as possible.
Earlier, several explosions occurred at the Kerman cemetery during a memorial ceremony for Qasem Soleimani, who was killed on January 3, 2020, in a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad airport. According to Tasnim news agency, there were two packages containing bombs at the entrance of the cemetery that could be detonated remotely.
As of the latest reports, the death toll from the explosions has reached 200. A day of mourning has been declared in Iran on January 4. The country’s authorities consider the incident an act of terrorism. At this time, no terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the explosions.
