National Mourning Declared in Iran

National Mourning Declared in Iran

On Thursday, January 4, a day of mourning will be observed in Iran, as announced by President Ebrahim Raisi.

It is worth noting that today, explosions erupted in Iran, resulting in numerous casualties and injuries. Several explosions occurred at a cemetery in Kerman, where a memorial ceremony was taking place for Qassem Soleimani, who was killed on January 3, 2020, by a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad Airport.

According to the Tasnim agency, there were two packages containing remote-detonated bombs near the entrance of the cemetery. The latest reports indicate that the death toll from the explosions has reached 200. The country's authorities regard the incident as an act of terrorism. At this time, no terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the explosions.
