Earthquake in Japan: Death Toll Reaches 62, Over 100 Injured
The death toll from the earthquakes in Japan has reached 62, according to NHK, the national broadcasting organization. Local rescue services continue their search efforts for people trapped under the rubble. They are also addressing the damage caused by the earthquake, including fires that broke out following the collapse of buildings.
According to the latest data provided by NHK, the number of injured has surpassed 100, with 17 of them hospitalized in critical condition.
An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck Japan on January 1. Aftershocks have been recorded over 150 times since then. A tsunami warning was issued for the entire western coast of the country, which lasted for 24 hours.
