VIDEO: The Body of Oscar-Winning 'Parasite' Star Found in Seoul Park
The body of Oscar-winning 'Parasite' star Lee Sun-kyun has been found in a park in Seoul. He was 48 years old.
It is noted that the police had previously received a report that the actor had left his home. Later, law enforcement discovered the man's vehicle near a Seoul park. According to the agency, Lee Sun-kyun was found inside the car and was in an unconscious state.
Reports indicate that the actor left a note before his death, the contents of which have not been disclosed. Yonhap reports that Lee's wife informed the police that her husband had left home and that she found a couplet written shortly before his suicide.
Local media reports state that Lee was under investigation for allegations of drug use. Yonhap mentions that Lee had been questioned by the police three times, including on the weekend for 19 hours regarding the use of marijuana and psychoactive substances.
It has been reported that Lee had visited the Gangnam district of Seoul several times since the beginning of this year, including last Saturday, where he allegedly used drugs.
The actor gained international recognition after starring in 'Parasite,' where he played the role of Park, the owner of the house that housed members of the Kim family.
It is recalled that the film 'Parasite' was released in 2019 and won four Oscars. It became the first South Korean film to win an award and the first non-English language film to win the 'Best Picture' category. 'Parasite' also won the 'Palme d'Or' and the 'Golden Globe' awards.
