VIDEO: Many Dead Due to Severe Storm in Australia
At least nine people have died due to a severe storm in Australia, according to TASS.
Among the victims is a 46-year-old woman who was swept away by floodwaters into a sewer. Three others died in a boating accident when a pleasure craft capsized near the capital of Brisbane, where there were 11 people on board. Local police stated that eight individuals have been rescued from the water, while the bodies of the three deceased were recovered later.
Reports also indicate fatalities in southern Victoria, where a man was killed by a falling tree, and a woman died in a camping area near Bacchus Marsh as a result of flooding.
A powerful storm occurred in Queensland on Tuesday night, accompanied by hail and heavy rain. Flooding has also been recorded in Victoria. Wind gusts reached nearly 30 m/s, according to the Bureau of Meteorology in Australia.
