Video: Black Ice, Blizzard, Snow, and Numerous Blocked Roads Across Armenia
Auroranews has received numerous reports from drivers about the road conditions prevailing due to adverse weather. Our viewers have sent us footage showing the challenges on the roads caused by the severe weather and the current situation.
The emergency services also inform that there are blocked and impassable roads within the territory of Armenia. The roads from the “Amberd” high mountain meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province to the Amberd Fortress and the K'ari Lake are closed.
The Vardenyats Pass is closed for trucks with trailers (due to blizzard and snow) and is difficult for other vehicles to traverse. The Spitak turns are closed for trucks with trailers (due to black ice).
The roads in Voskepar, the Dilijan turns, and the Dilijan-Vanadzor highway are closed for trucks. The Berd-Chambarak, Alagyaz-Artik (blizzard), Tufashen-Haykasar road, and the Saravan-Zanger section are closed for all types of vehicles. The section of the Vayq-Sisian road from “Zanger” to Gorayq is one-sided closed for all types of vehicles.
In the Tigranashen turns, the Sisian-Zanger section, Tat'ev-Ltsen, Goris-Sisian, and the highways leading to Abovyan, Aparan, Aragats, and Talin regions, as well as to the city of Jermuk, there is localized black ice.
In Syunik Province, there is snowfall in Hrazdan and Berd towns. Blizzard conditions are reported in the Aragats and Akhuryan regions, as well as in the villages of Shinuhaik and Gorayq.
According to information received from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center of Russia’s North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is closed for all types of vehicles. Drivers are advised to operate exclusively with winter tires.
