In Moscow, 673 kg of Latin American cocaine, valued between 2.5 and 6.5 billion rubles, has been seized, which was intended for transportation to the European Union, according to the FSB (Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation). This information was reported by RIA Novosti.

"Another attempt by an international criminal organization to use Russian territory for the transit and sale of drugs has been thwarted. Attempts have been recorded in Moscow to sell a bulk batch of Latin American cocaine. Two Russian citizens have been identified, who arrived in the Moscow region from border areas to conduct a special multi-stage drug operation," the agency stated.

They were supposed to receive a particularly large batch of cocaine earlier delivered to Russia and smuggle it to EU countries. For this purpose, the couriers used rented transportation with fake passports, as well as a false ID and driver's license.

During the arrest, law enforcement seized 673 kg of cocaine, "whose wholesale value exceeds 2.5 billion rubles on the Russian black market." Retail sales, as noted by the FSB, could have earned the drug syndicate at least 6.5 billion rubles.

The arrested individuals have been detained, and the investigative department of the agency has opened a criminal case against them. As added by the special service, the criminals face penalties of up to life imprisonment.
