Armenia Ready to Install 7 Checkpoints on Borders with Azerbaijan and Turkey: Sanosyan

The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, Gnel Sanosyan, addressed the ministerial meeting of landlocked countries, discussing Armenia's proposed "Peace Crossroads" initiative. "Through this program, our country expresses its willingness to construct and rehabilitate all infrastructure that will ensure transport connectivity between regional countries in north-south and east-west directions. Specifically, Armenia is ready to establish seven road infrastructure checkpoints on the Armenia-Azerbaijan and Armenia-Turkey borders, facilitate communication between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, restore four different sections of railway infrastructure, and set up four checkpoints on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and one on the Armenia-Turkey border," he stated.

The principles of the Peace Crossroads include that all infrastructures, including roads, railways, air routes, pipelines, cables, and electrical grids, operate under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries through which they pass," he added. He emphasized that each country, through its governmental agencies, carries out border and customs control, ensuring the safe movement of people, goods, and vehicles. "All infrastructures can be used for both interstate and domestic transport. Countries benefit from all infrastructures based on mutuality and equality principles," noted the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.
