Transit Country Issues Create More Serious Complications, Says Mirzoyan

Landlocked countries are less competitive due to their lack of appropriate transportation infrastructure. This was noted by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a ministerial meeting of landlocked developing countries.

“Being cut off from major markets and deprived of transportation links further deteriorates the situation for landlocked countries, as there are no necessary connections and logistical conditions. Issues with transit countries create even more serious complications. The transportation infrastructure of landlocked nations increases the costs of goods transportation, in addition to geopolitical and security issues and tensions,” Mirzoyan stated.

Mirzoyan emphasized that due to such problems, landlocked countries become less competitive and reduce opportunities for national income.

The ministerial meeting of landlocked developing countries began today in Yerevan and will continue tomorrow, with representatives from over 35 countries in attendance.
