Russia Has Lost Nearly 90 Percent of Its Military Personnel Since the Start of the War, Media Reports

The war in Ukraine has cost Russia 315,000 dead and wounded soldiers, amounting to approximately 87 percent of its personnel. This was reported by Reuters, citing American intelligence sources.

According to the Reuters source, the Kremlin's losses in personnel and armored vehicles have "pushed back" Russian military modernization by 18 years. The source notes that Russia launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, involving 360,000 troops. Since then, 315,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded, representing nearly 87% of their total number.

The source added that due to these losses, Russia has been forced to conscript prisoners and elderly civilians into military service. The Russian army is left with 1,300 units of armored vehicles and is compelled to supplement its forces with T-62 tanks manufactured in the 1970s, the source indicated.
