Hamas on the Brink of Collapse: Israeli Defense Minister
The Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, has announced that the Palestinian Hamas movement is on the brink of collapse. This was reported by The Times of Israel, with information provided by TASS.
Gallant stated that the IDF is nearing a breakthrough in the northern Gaza Strip. According to him, in recent days, hundreds of militants have surrendered to Israeli soldiers.
“Hamas fighters are surrendering en masse, including those who participated in the October 7 attacks, while Israeli forces are tightening the noose around Gaza in Jabalia and Shejaiya, the last strongholds of the Islamists,” Gallant's words were cited by Yedioth Ahronoth.
“The radicals are close to failure. The number of surrendering fighters speaks volumes about the situation. Coming out of their bunkers, they admit to a lack of weapons and food,” said Gallant.
Earlier, the head of the military department reported that Israeli soldiers had killed “thousands of militants and hundreds of commanders” from armed groups associated with Hamas during operations in Gaza. Additionally, according to Gallant, many Hamas infrastructures, including “tunnels, military installations, and ammunition depots,” have been destroyed in the Gaza Strip. Moreover, the military has seized hundreds of computers from which intelligence data has been extracted, he added.
