Vucic and Aliyev Discuss Serbian Military Equipment: Serbia Selling 311 Million Euro Howitzers to Baku
Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic during his official visit to Serbia in the city of Niš. According to reports from Azerbaijani media, after face-to-face negotiations, Vucic and Aliyev discussed Serbian military equipment and armaments. Allegedly, Serbia has already signed, or will soon sign, a contract with Azerbaijan for the supply of 45 units of 155 mm Nora-B52 howitzers, worth a total of 311 million euros.
Vucic had announced in late November that a major defense contract he previously mentioned had already been signed, but he could not provide further details, except to say that it is not with an African country and that the deal concerns 311 million euros (earlier information had circulated that Serbia was signing a similar contract with Algeria).
Furthermore, in September, the Serbian president had stated that a significant contract worth 300 million with Azerbaijan would be signed. It is noteworthy that the day before, the presidents of Azerbaijan, Serbia, and Bulgaria—Ilham Aliyev, Aleksandar Vucic, and Rumen Radev—participated in the opening ceremony of an interconnector near the Serbian-Bulgarian border, through which Azerbaijani gas will be supplied to Serbia.
