Turkey Has No Drop of Water to Waste, Says Erdogan
The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has called on the population to take care of the country’s water resources to avoid issues related to food security. According to him, Turkey does not have a drop of water that can be 'wasted'. This information was reported by RIA Novosti.
Previously, Turkey’s Minister of Agriculture Ibrahim Yumaklı urged the public to mobilize efforts and adopt a 'sensitive approach' regarding the water shortage in the country.
'The way to guarantee our country’s food security is through the safe and efficient use of water resources. Contrary to popular belief, we are not a water-rich country,' the Turkish leader stated in Ankara. He noted that the sectors most in need of water are agriculture and the food industry.
