Court Rules on Gagik Khachatryan Case

The Yerevan Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction has rejected the petition for the detention of the former head of the State Revenue Committee, Gagik Khachatryan. The motion was submitted by prosecutor Gevorg Sargsyan.

The decision can be appealed within a 10-day period. Judge Artur Mkrtchyan stated, “The petition has been rejected considering several circumstances. The court acknowledged that Gagik Khachatryan has various health issues, which have been confirmed by medical documents, forensic examination conclusions, and other factual data. The court did not consider the absence of the defendant as disrespectful, as the relevant documents were submitted before any court session.”

According to him, the court also decided to adjourn the session, which is scheduled to take place on January 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM, in accordance with the prior agreement.
