Is There a Clause Regarding Nagorno-Karabakh in the 6th Version of the Peace Treaty? Response from the Armenian Foreign Ministry

The Armenian Foreign Ministry does not clarify whether there is any provision regarding Nagorno-Karabakh in the 6th version of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace treaty. This was conveyed to Baku by official Yerevan on November 21.

The Armenian side received Azerbaijan's proposals before the Azerbaijani attack on Artsakh.

In response to "Freedom's" written question about whether there is a provision concerning the rights and security of the Armenian population of Artsakh in the latest draft, the foreign ministry only indicated, "For Armenia, mutual recognition of the territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan is a priority, as well as the urgent necessity to work on the demarcation of borders between the two countries based on the most recent maps of the Soviet Union's General Staff, and the unblocking of regional communication routes based on the principles of sovereignty, authority, reciprocity, and equality."

Merely two months before the depopulation of Artsakh, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that one of Yerevan's red lines in negotiations with Azerbaijan was the issue of the rights and security of the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians. Now, what is the official position of Yerevan on this matter?

The Foreign Ministry refers to public statements made by Nikol Pashinyan, the foreign minister, and other officials. In those statements, Pashinyan and his associates do not express any stance regarding the rights and security of the people of Artsakh.

Last week, responding to a question from the opposition regarding the future of Artsakh, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that his concern is the future of the Republic of Armenia.
