Correctional Officers to Be Dismissed After Two Consecutive Years of Not Earning Credits
In Armenia, a new legislative proposal aims to allow the dismissal of correctional officers if they fail to earn the required credits from their individual training programs for two consecutive years.
The draft amendment to the Law on the Correctional Service was presented at a session of the National Assembly by Deputy Minister of Justice Levon Balyan.
Currently, there are no specific legal consequences established by law for a correctional officer receiving a negative or unverified evaluation after completing training courses.
“The draft proposes to add the following provision in the relevant article regarding the dismissal of correctional officers: if an officer fails to earn the required credits from their individual training program for two consecutive years due to their fault, or if they receive a negative 'unverified' evaluation after completing training courses aimed at solving the primary issues of the correctional service effectively, they will be dismissed,” stated the deputy minister.
In other words, if they do not earn the corresponding credits for two consecutive years, they will lose their jobs,” he added.
