Ogün Samast, Killer of Hrant Dink, Back in Court After 16 Years in Prison
Ogün Samast, who spent 16 years in prison for the murder of journalist Hrant Dink, has returned to court in Turkey facing accusations of being a member of the terrorism-designated Gülen movement.
According to Turkish news outlet BirGun, hearings for a new case against Samast have commenced at the 14th Criminal Court of Serious Crimes in Istanbul. He is charged with being a member of the terrorist group and carrying out the assassination of Dink under orders from that organization.
Samast participated in the court session via video link from a court in Trabzon. Dink’s lawyers and journalists were also present during the proceedings. The court has decided to impose a travel ban on Ogün Samast.
