VIDEO: "What kind of pressures were exerted on you during the PP meeting?" - Question to a candidate member of the Anti-Corruption Committee

Julya

During today’s session of the National Assembly, while discussing the election of a member of the Anti-Corruption Committee, Teghuhi Tovmasyan, a member of the "Honorable" faction, addressed candidate Haykuhi Harutyunyan.

“Until now, a significant portion of the criticism directed at you has been that you have a rather benevolent attitude towards the officials of the ruling PP faction and party. It seems we are witnessing a somewhat different situation now. In this context, I would like to briefly quote a statement made by the EU-Armenia Civil Society Platform. It has been noted that the process of filling the vacant positions of the Anti-Corruption Committee members is problematic. It was mentioned that the PP decided not to select Haykuhi Harutyunyan from the proposed candidates, and during a closed PP meeting, several faction members reminded her of the decisions made regarding them, their family members, and their friends, expressing dissatisfaction in connection with that. What happened, and what kind of pressures were exerted on you during that meeting?” Tovmasyan asked.

In response, Haykuhi Harutyunyan stated that she is an apolitical person in every respect. “Regarding the statement you referred to, I would like to request that all doubts be cleared, and that all raised or potentially raised questions become a matter of public property. I myself am ready to answer that question, but I also think that the other party to the discussion should clarify, confirm, or make any details related to that question a subject of public discussion,” Harutyunyan responded.
