Video: "Da-va-jha, Da-va-jha". Alaverdi Residents Block Community Hall Entrance

Residents of Alaverdi have blocked the entrance to the community hall demanding early elections. They are calling on members of the City Council from the ruling Civil Contract party to hold early elections and not decide who should lead the community in their place.

It is worth mentioning that under tense circumstances, the Alaverdi City Council was able to express a vote of no confidence in Arkadi Tamazyan. David Qumashyan, the head of the Civil Contract faction, was elected as mayor.

"It is illegal to express no confidence in the community leader. If they have the guts, let’s go for early elections if they are confident they have the power. They do not have that power, they cannot be elected and are doing it with your help," said one of the residents.

The gathered crowd was shouting for the Civil Contract party members inside the building to step outside, chanting, "Da-va-jha! Da-va-jha!"
