Photos: Wildcat Attacks Owner and Escapes in Russia
In the night, emergency services in the village of Nezlobnaya, Russia, received a report that a wildcat had escaped from its owner's home and vanished in an unknown direction. Local media outlets report that emergency management and police arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area designated for search operations and alerting residents that the predator was roaming nearby.
Several hours later, the animal was found up a tree in a neighboring area, and it was shot to prevent any danger to local residents. The owner of the dangerous pet, 47-year-old Dmitri B., refused hospitalization. However, an ambulance crew discovered that the man sustained cuts to his head and ear from the wildcat's attack.
The Persian wildcat, named Murka, was seven years old. The animal was given to the man as a birthday gift. A total of 57 people participated in the search efforts.
