Bulgaria Explains Why It Opened Its Airspace for Lavrov's Plane

Bulgaria has explained why it opened its airspace for the plane of Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Bulgarian Foreign Minister Maria Gabriel stated that the permission for Lavrov's aircraft to pass through the Balkan country's airspace to North Macedonia for the OSCE summit is due to the importance of this meeting.

“The decision was made to open the airspace for the Russian delegation that is coming to Skopje, as you know how important this meeting in Skopje is for the maintenance of the OSCE,” she said during the NATO Ministerial Council.

Earlier, it was reported that North Macedonia would allow aircraft from Russia to enter the country for three days in case of Sergey Lavrov's visit to the OSCE Foreign Ministers' meeting. The meeting of OSCE member states at the level of foreign ministers will take place in Skopje from November 30 to December 1.
