‘No one except Russia is capable of assuming the role of guarantor of peace and stability in Nagorno-Karabakh,’ Peskov

The West is attempting to push the Russian Federation out of Nagorno-Karabakh. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of Russia. According to him, apart from the Russian Federation, no one is capable of assuming the role of guarantor of peace and stability in this region.

“A number of countries are still attempting to destabilize the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh,” Peskov said during an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin on the ‘Russia 1’ channel. He noted that Azerbaijan has declared that the West cannot claim the role of a mediator because it has taken a one-sided position.

“Well, you understand, probably, three, four, five years ago such a struggle was waged with diplomatic masks. Now those masks have long since been cast aside, and the struggle is being waged head-on, without hesitation. Indeed, a number of countries are still trying to destabilize the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh, which, by the way, has led to the Azerbaijani side officially declaring that these countries can hardly claim the role of a mediator because they have positioned themselves one-sidedly,” Peskov said.

The press secretary of the President of Russia emphasized that adopting such a one-sided position makes it inappropriate to claim any role.
