The Agreement on the Cancellation of Visa Requirements for Armenian Citizens is in the Validation Phase: Hakob Arshakyan

The agreement on the cancellation of visa requirements for Armenian citizens to the UAE is in the validation phase and will come into effect very soon. This was announced by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Hakob Arshakyan, in a Facebook post, which we present in full below:

“On November 24, I delivered a speech on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the formation of the United Arab Emirates. Warmly congratulating the UAE on this significant milestone, I expressed my excitement for their numerous successes and achievements over the last decades in various fields and we look forward to new heights being reached by our fraternal Emirates.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, more than thirty important documents have been signed between our countries, laying the groundwork for an expanded cooperation agenda between our two governments. In recent years, there has been a notable increase in the number of high-level reciprocal visits between Armenia and the UAE. Both sides are actively participating in various business meetings, conferences, and exhibitions, showcasing constructive cooperation within international organizations.

The United Arab Emirates is Armenia's first trading partner in the Middle East and North Africa region, with bilateral trade volumes achieving impressive figures year after year. In 2022, it amounted to 999.5 million US dollars, according to the 'exporting country' criterion, while in the first nine months of the current year, it has exceeded 1.1 billion US dollars. Emirati investments are becoming increasingly noticeable in the Armenian economy. There is a close collaboration developing between the business communities of Armenia and the Emirates.

As a positive achievement in terms of developing trade-economic relations and promoting tourism, I would like to emphasize the significance of regular direct flights between Armenia and the UAE, which number around 30 per week.

In this context, I am pleased to note that the agreement on the cancellation of UAE visa requirements for Armenian citizens is also in the validation phase and will come into effect very soon.

Emphasizing the high level of Armenian-Emirati cooperation, I feel it is necessary to point out that our relations are endowed with great potential for development, and I am convinced that through joint efforts, we will be able to further deepen and expand the comprehensive agenda between our countries for the benefit and welfare of our fraternal peoples.”
