A Flood of Interrogations Expected in City Hall Incident Case

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that, according to its sources, the Investigative Committee is examining videos released by the media related to the criminal case concerning the incident at the Yerevan City Hall. Following the release of these videos, notifications will begin to be sent out, indicating that a flood of interrogations is expected.

It remains to be seen whether the committee will proceed to the end regarding this incident, holding individuals accountable, or whether it will be dismissed like the incident of parliamentary brawls, as seen with the Anti-Corruption Committee.

Recall that a report was received from the police stating that on November 11, 2023, during a regular meeting of the Yerevan City Council, disagreements arose among several members of the council, leading to mutual physical confrontations, during which disrespectful behavior towards the public was demonstrated with accompanying insults, disrupting the normal functioning of the City Hall.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated at the Investigative Committee of Armenia under Article 297, Part 2, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism committed by a group of individuals) and Article 195, Part 2, Clause 5 (inflicting harm or committing other violent actions by a group of individuals). An investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances.

For more details, refer to today’s issue of the newspaper. Previously, it was reported that a brawl occurred at the Yerevan City Council meeting on November 21 between representatives of the "Mother Armenia" faction, Sona Aghekyan and Narine Hayrapetyan, and Ani Khachatryan, leader of the "Republic" faction. The dispute was marked by insults and escalated into a physical fight.
