Armenia's Boycott of CSTO Meetings Causes "Regret": Zakharova
Armenia's boycott of CSTO meetings causes "regret". This was stated by the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in response to various Armenian officials' absence from CSTO format meetings.
“We do not believe that this serves the long-term interests of the Armenian people and would contribute to the security and stability of our friendly country. At the same time, as far as we understand, our Armenian colleagues are not inclined to block the work of the organization's structures and obstruct the adoption of already agreed documents. In fact, it leaves the doors open for Yerevan and allows for future participation in the work. We hope that our Armenian allies will take advantage of that opportunity in the near future,” Zakharova stated.
She noted that the dispatch of the CSTO monitoring mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border could be a significant factor in ensuring Armenia's security, in contrast to the EU mission, which demonstrates its complete ineffectiveness.
According to her, Armenia's decision not to participate in the CSTO summit in Minsk is regrettable, but the doors remain open for Yerevan.
