“Let Other Political Forces Think”: Head of the CP Group on New City Council Elections
“We have already announced that we are not afraid of new elections.” This was stated today by the head of the Yerevan City Council's CP group, Armen Galjyan, during a briefing with reporters, responding to a journalist's citation of former mayor Hayk Marutyan's opinion that new elections should be held and a new government formed.
“Let other political forces think; we are not afraid of new elections. If we decide to carry out extraordinary elections, they will start to not want it, just as it happened in 2021, we saw how it went,” he said.
Galjyan also addressed yesterday’s incident at the council meeting. “Yes, we had a discussion afterward and recorded that we must do what depends on us to exclude violence and insults. In other words, we excluded it on our part yesterday. As you know, the clash started from the statements and actions of a representative of the opposition group, and we responded to that,” he added.
According to Galjyan, if the opposition groups continue such tactics, necessary political and legal measures will be applied to eliminate them.
