Moscow Blocks Entry of Several Moldovan Officials to Russia

Moscow has blocked the entry of several Moldovan officials in response to actions against Russian-language media. The Moldovan ambassador has been summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to a statement from the ministry's website.

On November 20, Lilian Darius, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Russian Federation, was called to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministry announced.

The Moldovan side has expressed strong protest against the ongoing persecution of Russian-language media in Moldova for political reasons, which has, among other things, included the blocking of their websites, the ministry stated.

Darius was informed that as an asymmetric measure, the entry of several officials from the Republic of Moldova into the Russian Federation has been banned, as noted in the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement.
