How Many Indians Live in Armenia: Kerobyan Releases Figures

The number of labor migrants is not counted among tourist statistics. This was stated by the Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan, addressing the topic of the large number of Indian citizens coming to Armenia.

“Various figures have been mentioned; the existing numbers we have taken from border crossings indicate that they are fewer than 30,000. The figure of 60,000 does not correspond to reality. It is in the range of 20,000 to 30,000,” the minister stated, adding that the flow of tourists from India is not large, hence they are not considered tourists.

“I cannot say that highly qualified specialists are coming from India. Highly qualified specialists come from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus,” the minister noted.

It is worth mentioning that Kerobyan also reported that in the past 10 months, Armenia has welcomed 2 million tourists, which is an increase of 25% compared to 2019. According to Kerobyan, 2.4 million tourist visits are expected by the end of the year. Each tourist spends an average of $1,200, of which about $110 goes to the budget.
