Average Spending of Every Tourist in Armenia: Minister of Economy

During a meeting of the Permanent Commission on Economic Issues of the National Assembly, Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan announced that Armenia ranks 7th among 142 countries in terms of tourism security index, attributing this to the low crime rate in the country.

"In terms of the growth rate of tourism volume, Armenia is 6th in the world, trailing behind Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and a few other countries," said the minister, adding that tourism in Armenia has grown compared to many other countries.

Kerobyan noted that in the first ten months of this year, 2 million tourists visited Armenia, which is a 25% increase compared to 2019. He expects that by the end of the year, the number of tourist visits will reach 2.4 million.

According to the minister, each tourist spends an average of 1,200 dollars, of which about 110 dollars goes to the budget.

The National Assembly committee is discussing a new legislative package on tourism presented by the government.
