Cyclist Dies in Fatal Accident on His Birthday

On November 17, a fatal accident occurred in the Ararat region. Around 3:40 PM, 42-year-old Arthur A. from Vayots Dzor region, while driving his VAZ-2107 vehicle on the Yerevan-Yeraskh highway within the administrative territory of Artashat city, struck a cyclist, 67-year-old Manazar M. from Ararat region.

According to photographer Gagik Shamshyan, who reported from the scene, the injured cyclist passed away on the way to the 'Artashat' medical center without regaining consciousness.

The driver underwent sobriety testing at the scene and was found to be heavily intoxicated. Relatives of the deceased arrived at the location and searched for the driver; however, thanks to the rapid actions of law enforcement, the driver was isolated from the scene.

By the investigator's order, the vehicle and the mangled bicycle were transported to the designated storage area of the Artashat police station. According to sources, today was also the cyclist's birthday.
