VIDEO: Rescuers Have Removed 160 Vehicles and About 310 Citizens from Blockage
The Ministry of Emergency Situations has reported that rescue units are on heightened alert on the country's roadways. Due to heavy snowfall, numerous calls have been received at the National Crisis Management Center from November 20 to 21 regarding blocked and stranded vehicles in various regions of the republic, particularly in the provinces of Kotayk, Gegharkunik, Tavush, Vayots Dzor, Syunik, Lori, Shirak, and Aragatsotn. Rescuers have successfully removed 160 vehicles and provided assistance to about 310 citizens.
The significant snowfall has created challenges, especially on interstate highways, in higher elevation areas and difficult-to-reach places. Near the Dilijan Tunnel on the interstate highways, rescuers managed to remove 5 passenger cars from blockage, assisting approximately 15 passengers.
On the 163rd km of the Yerevan-Meghri road, a truck that had skidded due to snow was towed back onto the roadway. Assistance was also provided to two more blocked trucks on the 30th km of the Getap-Martuyni road, which were able to continue their journey with the help of rescuers.
Near the village of Amasia in Shirak Province, as well as on the Maralik-Pemzashen road, rescuers, utilizing specialized equipment, transported vehicles that had gone off the road and were stuck in snowdrifts, providing first aid to six citizens.
Passenger vehicles were removed from snow blockages near the villages of Tsaghkasar, Alagyaz-Jamshlu, and Tatul-Hatzashen in Aragatsotn Province. Assistance was provided to the passengers and drivers of these vehicles, temporarily relocating them to the vicinity of the nearby firefighting and rescue squad.
Reports have been received that numerous vehicles are unable to proceed on the Ryma Taza-Zilkhar road due to blizzards and black ice. Responding promptly, firefighters and rescuers assisted about 100 passengers, towing 60 vehicles that were then able to continue their journey.
Due to difficult navigability, a shift has been established in the Saravan-'Zanger' area. At the 36th km of the Sisian-'Zanger' highway, a truck with a trailer had assumed a scissors-like position, causing one-way traffic. Thanks to the skilled actions of firefighters and rescuers, the vehicle was straightened and removed from blockage, allowing for two-way traffic on the road.
Rescuers are diligently continuing their efforts to remove vehicles from blockages and assist stranded citizens, transporting them to safer areas or providing relevant assistance.
