The Incident Repeats, and That Is Already Dangerous: The Only Synagogue in Yerevan Attempted to be Set on Fire
The only synagogue located in Yerevan has been attempted to be set on fire. The incident occurred on November 15. Auroranews contacted the leader of the Jewish community in Armenia, Rima Varzhapetyan, to clarify details regarding the incident.
According to the community leader, this event was not unexpected anymore. "It was not unexpected for us anymore, but it is very bad. We are not provoking anyone. We live peacefully and are carrying out our activities. There can be no anti-Armenian sentiments among our citizens, and obviously, there are no anti-Israeli sentiments either," she stated.
She noted that this topic has been prominently circulating in Armenia lately. "I cannot blame anyone because we do not know who it is, but unfortunately, this topic has indeed been circulating a lot in Armenia recently, and we are concerned about that," the community leader mentioned.
Rima Varzhapetyan also spoke about the need for an investigation. "The burning of the synagogue is terrifying. The only thing we can say right now is that an investigation is necessary and urgently, as this is happening repeatedly, and that is already dangerous," she emphasized.
