VIDEO: New Developments in Jalal Harutyunyan's Criminal Case, Says Lawyer

“There are certain developments in the criminal case of former Minister of Defense of Artsakh, Jalal Harutyunyan,” said his lawyer Arsen Sardaryan during a meeting with reporters.

“We have received the conclusion of the military complex examination that lasted about 5 months. The experts reached a unanimous conclusion which, in my opinion, evidently indicates, according to any lawyer's assessment, the absence of grounds for the public prosecution against Jalal Harutyunyan regarding the actions attributed to him. After obtaining this conclusion, we received a well-founded decision from the prosecutor's office to discontinue the charges in the first episode (about the counter-strike),” said Arsen Sardaryan.

Elaborating further, the lawyer noted that Jalal Harutyunyan was accused of allegedly not considering the ratio of forces, claiming that attacking the enemy in that situation could not stem from the requirements of the statute. “The military experts unequivocally answered that in that situation it was not only legal but also a necessity carried out by Jalal Harutyunyan. In this regard, the criminal prosecution was ceased,” said the lawyer.

“However, a new criminal charge was initiated regarding the second episode, which is named differently, but it completely repeats the previously presented charges, as if this military scientific examination never existed,” Sardaryan added.
