No Truck Buildup at Armenian-Georgia Border Posts, Says SCS

Reports circulating in the media regarding the buildup of around 600 freight transport vehicles at Armenian-Georgia border posts are not true. This was stated by the State Revenue Committee of Armenia.

"The Bagratashen checkpoint is operating normally, albeit with some congestion. At the same time, we inform that the Armenian side is in constant communication with its Georgian counterparts, and if a similar situation arises, issues are operationally addressed and resolved. At this moment, the Armenian side has not received any alerts regarding truck buildups from the Georgian side. Moreover, the daily capacity of freight transport vehicles at the Bagratashen customs checkpoint exceeds 300, therefore, the same vehicle cannot remain at the checkpoint for several days without crossing the border," the statement said.

Additionally, it was reported from the Department of Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and from the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia that the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open for all types of vehicles.

Earlier, we reported that citizens had expressed concerns regarding the inability of 600 freight trucks to enter Armenia due to poor operations at the Armenian checkpoint.
