Entry fees for Istanbul's Hagia Sophia, which has been converted into a mosque, will become mandatory for foreign tourists starting January 15. This was announced by Turkey's Minister of Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
Hagia Sophia was formerly a Greek Orthodox Christian cathedral, later an Ottoman mosque, and until 2020, a museum (Hagia Sophia Museum). Since July 10, 2020, it has been a mosque in Istanbul.
