IDF Engaged in Gunfight with Hamas Militants Near Erez Crossing, Casualties Reported

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) thwarted an attempt by Hamas militants to infiltrate the territory of the Jewish state through the Erez crossing, according to an official report from the IDF's Telegram channel.

The IDF clarified that Israeli soldiers killed and wounded several Hamas operatives who emerged from a tunnel located in the Gaza Strip.

Before the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, residents of Gaza had used the Erez crossing to enter Israel for work or to receive medical assistance. According to Israeli military sources, Hamas has constructed tunnels near the crossing to launch attacks on humanitarian transit points, endangering both Israelis and Palestinians in the area.

It was reported that aircraft controlled by IDF soldiers carried out strikes on two Hamas positions, resulting in the deaths of several organization members.
