US Fails to Test Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile

US military personnel destroyed a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile during a flight over the Pacific Ocean due to issues that arose during a test launch, according to a statement from the US Air Force.

It was noted that the missile had to be destroyed in the air by the military after an "anomaly" was detected immediately following the launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. It was safely destroyed.

The previous launch of the Minuteman III from Vandenberg occurred on the night of September 6.
