US Strikes Iranian Targets in Syria

The US Armed Forces have launched strikes against two targets in eastern Syria under the orders of President Joe Biden. According to Pentagon reports, these sites are utilized by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran and affiliated groups.

It is noted that the strikes were carried out "for self-defense" and were a response to the "ongoing and largely unsuccessful" attacks on American troops in Syria and Iraq that began on October 17. As a result of these attacks, one American civilian was killed, and 21 military personnel were injured.

The Pentagon assured that these strikes are intended "solely to protect US forces in Iraq and Syria" and have no connection to the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

“The United States is not seeking conflict and does not intend or desire to engage in further military operations; however, attacks on US forces supported by Iran are unacceptable and must cease,” the statement read.

In recent days, two US bases in Syria have come under drone attacks. Responsibility for these attacks has been claimed by members of Iraq's Islamic Resistance, who have previously attacked American bases in Iraq several times. Last week, 24 service members were affected by attacks on American bases in Iraq and Syria.
