"The Report Raises Certain Doubts": IDF Disputes UN Statement

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) disputes a statement from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) claiming that fuel in the Gaza Strip will soon run out, according to BBC's Russian service.

"As far as I know, there is still electricity in the Gaza Strip. And that report raises certain doubts," said Jonathan Conricus, an official representative of the IDF, referencing the organization's report from October 16.

"We have responded to the UN's statement by citing where Hamas is obtaining both fuel and other types of fuel. All of this is inside the Gaza Strip. It will be sufficient for many days for the operation of hospitals and water pumps. The priorities are just different. Hamas prefers to use all the fuel for its combat capabilities, leaving the civilian population without it," Conricus added.

According to UN data, hospitals in Gaza are only accepting emergency patients amid fears that fuel supplies may run out in the coming hours. Previously, Hamas claimed that fuel had been exhausted in all hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
