How HAMAS Concealed Operation Preparations from Israeli Intelligence

Members of the HAMAS movement, who had been preparing an operation against Israel for two years, have abandoned the use of smartphones and computers, opting instead for landlines and utilizing tunnels in the Gaza Strip to facilitate communication, reports CNN, citing its sources. This information was conveyed to RIA Novosti.

According to the outlet's sources, this allowed them to hide the preparations for the operation from Israeli intelligence. “During the two years of planning the operation, a small cell operating in the tunnels (HAMAS fighters) used landline telephone lines to communicate and plan the operation, but remained unnoticed by Israeli intelligence until it was time to activate and call upon hundreds of HAMAS fighters to launch the attack on October 7,” the channel's report states.

The sources indicate that those responsible for the operation against Israel in the Gaza Strip deliberately avoided using computers or mobile phones for two years. As CNN notes, the tunnels form a “massive labyrinth” used for storing rockets and munitions, while also providing militants with the opportunity to move undetected.
