Shooting in the US: 22 Killed, 60 Wounded

At least 22 people have been killed and 60 injured in a shooting that took place in the city of Lewiston, Maine, according to reports from Fox News citing sources. The channel reports that the gunman opened fire at three locations: a restaurant, a store, and an entertainment center.

An unidentified individual with a weapon shot people indiscriminately in Lewiston, the second-largest city in Maine. Residents have been advised to shelter in safe locations. The police have released a photo of the suspect.

Recently, Maine law enforcement disclosed the identity of the armed individual who opened fire in Lewiston as 40-year-old Robert Card. Authorities are still searching for the suspect, who has not yet been arrested or neutralized; law enforcement officials describe him as armed and extremely dangerous. Current information indicates that the shooter is a firearms instructor and served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

He was released after undergoing treatment in a mental health facility over the summer. The Lewiston shooting marks the 565th mass shooting in the United States in 2023.
