Prime Minister Presents the Map of the "Peace Crossroads" Project

The Prime Minister presented the "Peace Crossroads" project developed by the Armenian government at the fourth international forum of the "Silk Road of Tbilisi." He considers this project an integral part of the peace agenda.

The key essence of the project is the development of communications between Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, through the renovation, construction, and operation of roads, railways, pipelines, cables, and power transmission lines,” said Pashinyan.

Pashinyan added, “The roads and railways passing through southern and northern Armenia have not been operational for regional purposes for thirty years. The roads connecting East and West are also not functioning, while their reoperation would create a short and efficient route connecting the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean.”

According to the Prime Minister, the first principle of the "Peace Crossroads" project is that all infrastructures, including roads and railways, operate under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries through which they pass.

The second principle is that each country exercises border and customs control through its state institutions on its territory, ensuring the security of infrastructure, including the safe passage of cargo, vehicles, and people through them,” Pashinyan stated.

In this context, he noted that a special unit will be established soon within Armenia's law enforcement system, tasked with ensuring the security of international communications passing through Armenia, along with the patrol police.

Pashinyan also mentioned the third principle, which states that the mentioned infrastructures can be used for both international and internal transportation.

According to the next principle, all countries utilize each other's infrastructures on the basis of equality and reciprocity. He remarked that Armenia will officially present this project to the governments of the countries in the region soon.
