No Directive from Above: Minasian on the Use of the Term 'Artsakh'

There is no directive or observation from above for Armenian officials to refrain from using the term 'Artsakh' in favor of the phrase 'Nagorno-Karabakh'. This was stated by the Minister of Justice of Armenia Grigor Minasian during a conversation with reporters after a government meeting.

"Naturally, no, there is no such thing. There is no such directive or observation from above," Minasian assured.

In response to a question about why some officials apologize and correct themselves after using the word Artsakh, Grigor Minasian reiterated that they have not received any such instructions.

It is noteworthy that similar corrections by Armenian officials have been occurring regularly in recent times. A particularly striking example was the correction made by Prime Minister Nazeli Baghdasaryan during a government briefing when she said, 'displaced from Artsakh,' and then immediately corrected herself by saying 'from Nagorno-Karabakh'.
